Just Tap’d • The Armory • Macon
“Susan and the SPP Team are always accessible and responsive. They are straight forward in their negotiations, the lease process was simple, and we easily came to terms on a price. Our space at The Armory was the right size, the perfect location, and the cost was at a price point that lowered our risk to investing in the downtown area. We have the best location in downtown and are excited to be part of the revitalization of Macon.”
Jeff Kressin, Owner of Just Tap’d
TENANT: Jeff and Beth Kressin owned Just Tap’d in Warner Robins and were the first to bring craft beer to the Middle Georgia area. They had a thriving business in Warner Robins and were approached by the Macon Chamber of Commerce to bring their business model to downtown Macon in 2014. The Chamber and NewTown Macon were recruiting businesses to help in the revitalization of the downtown area. Their mission was to create a vibrant and authentic city experience unparalleled in the South.
SPP SOLUTION: Jeff and Beth had already been considering opening another location in Columbus or McDonough when they met with the Chamber and Newtown Macon. In 2014 there were very few businesses in the downtown area and Jeff and Beth were a bit skeptical. The chamber gave them a tour and shared their future plans, and Jeff and Beth became excited by the possibilities. They knew finding the right location was critical to their success and came across an open retail space in The Armory Building on the corner of First and Popular Avenue. It was the perfect location with a patio area that had a beautiful view of several historic churches and the Macon City Auditorium. They contacted SPP Commercial Group to see the property and the negotiations began. SPP appreciated their vision for the space and were open to their buildout plans for their craft beer tap room. It was the right size, the perfect location, and the cost was at a price point that lowered their risk to investing in the downtown area.
PLAN FOR SUCCESS: Just Tap’d has sparked excitement in the area and many new businesses have opened in downtown Macon. Just Tap’d has become a popular hangout with Mercer University and Wesleyan College students and a recent Trivia Night drew over 500 people. They have expanded their basement area to include room for another 50 customers and their annual Craft Beer Festival attracted over 5,000 people from the Middle Georgia Area last year. Their location and experience with SPP Commercial have been positive for Jeff and Beth, and they are proud to be a part of the revitalization of downtown Macon.
